The Name "ALISA"
A bearer of culture.
“Alisa” — my name, and the name of this brand.
It was given to me by my parents, with the hope that I would one day live and work on a global stage.
They chose a name that would be easy to pronounce, even for those from different cultures.
Perhaps I was shaped by that intention.
I was fortunate to work across many countries, where I discovered how vast, fascinating, and beautiful the world truly is.
And then, the kanji that forms my name: 有紗 — read as Alisa in Japanese.
These characters were chosen by my grandfather.
He wished that I would hold in my hands many beautiful textiles —
and with them, things of true value.
“有” meaning “to possess,” and “紗” referring to delicate silk fabric.
“紗” — silk.
When I decided to make it my life’s mission to bring artisans to the world,
I realized something.
I had come full circle — back to my own name.
Having built my career globally as an engineer and consultant,
I never imagined I would step into the world of traditional craftsmanship.
And yet, when it came time to create this brand,
I knew there could be no other name.
ALISA.
As a Japanese woman, as Alisa,
perhaps this path had been quietly set from the very beginning.
Is it too romantic to see it this way?
Perhaps.
But I cannot help but feel a deep desire
to give meaning to the path my parents and grandfather placed before me.
A path I now choose to walk.
