Care
ALISA pieces are made to be lived with for many years. Cared for simply, a piece keeps its beauty — and when it needs help, we are here to repair or remake it.
The guidance below is for our silk pieces. Each piece also carries its own care label — where the label differs, please follow the label.
Everyday care
Silk does not need frequent washing. Its natural properties keep a piece fresh through normal wear, so there is no need to wash after every wearing.
After wearing, hang the piece in a well-ventilated place out of direct sunlight and let it rest before returning it to storage.
Washing — garments
We recommend washing by hand.
Use water below 30°C and a mild detergent formulated for delicate fabrics. Wash gently, pressing rather than rubbing, and do not leave the piece soaking. Do not wring it; instead wrap the piece in a towel to remove excess moisture. Reshape it while damp and dry it in the shade in a well-ventilated place. Strong sunlight dulls the color, so keep silk out of direct light as it dries.
Washing — silk pillowcases
Pillowcases may be machine washed on a gentle cycle, using a laundry net and a mild detergent. Do not bleach. Line dry in the shade.
Ironing and creases
Use a low-temperature steam iron with a pressing cloth to protect the fibers. A garment steamer is also suitable, held slightly away from the fabric. For light creases, hanging the piece in a steamy bathroom and letting it rest is often enough.
Storage
Fold rather than hang for long storage — hanging lets the weight of the silk stretch the piece over time.
Make sure the piece is completely dry before putting it away. Store it in a breathable cotton bag or box rather than plastic, which holds moisture, and place acid-free tissue paper between the folds to soften fold lines. Keep it in a cool, dark, dry place away from direct sunlight, and refold and air the piece from time to time so that creases do not set. If you use a moth repellent, keep it from touching the silk directly.
If something happens
For stains or damage, we recommend consulting a professional cleaner experienced with silk rather than treating the piece yourself — silk marks easily with water and rubbing.
Please also get in touch. Depending on the piece, we may be able to help.
Repair and remake
We repair ALISA pieces so that they can be worn for as long as possible. Send us photographs showing the condition, and we will let you know whether the repair can be provided free of charge or for a fee, with any cost shared in advance.
We also accept remake requests, so that a well-loved piece can continue in a new form. The options depend on the condition, fabric and design of the original piece.
Care label
Each piece carries a care label. Where the label and this page differ, please follow the label. For anything else, please contact us.
